All goals come from a place of comfort. No one signs up for a marathon mid-race. They do it from behind a computer, most likely seated in a comfortable chair. No one commits to losing weight after eating chicken and broccoli for two weeks straight. They do it after loosening the belt following another over-indulgence.
For many, the motivation lasts a few days, even a week, before it fades and that commitment is nothing more than a shoulder shrug and an, “I’ll start again on Monday.”
Reid Kisselback, however, is predicting a different future for himself. The Upstate New York meteorologist has goals that he says he, “wanted to achieve in the healthiest way possible,” and change his life in the process.
“My goal is to lose 50lbs, put some muscle weight on, and run a marathon under 4 hours.“
He’s on pace to accomplish both in the next few months as the SENS Fitness Wine and Weight Loss Program is putting the finishing touches on his 50 pounds lost, 23 of which came since February when he started the program.
It hasn’t been all clear skies and sunshine, though.
“The most challenging thing for me has just been my mind. There were weeks I didn't do well and I wouldn't allow myself to accept it's okay. There were weeks during this time where I would step on the scale and be upset if it wasn't where I wanted it to be. There were days my mind said it didn't want to run or follow the diet but I would still make myself do it and I would feel so much better at the end of the day because I did it.“
Reid’s new found ability, through the Wine and Weight Loss Program, to persevere when things get difficult has unlocked his full potential. Stepping outside his comfort zone is allowing Reid to grow both physically and mentally.
“I stand tall now and feel more confident in how I look. Mentally I am in a much better place from where I started and find myself feeling happy more often.“
With his marathon still a few months away this Fall, Reid is keeping focused on hitting his weight loss goal (he’s two pounds away!) and crossing the finish line in under 4 hours. He knows he’s got the entire SENS Fitness online community cheering him on every step of the way.
“People encouraging you when you need it, helps me to go the extra mile. The online support helps and the willingness to meet and walk me through a workout is something I don't see often.“
